Why Connecting Around Abundance Matters
In a world that feels increasingly fractured—where attention is scattered, headlines are overwhelming, and everything seems to be on fire—it’s easy to feel like we’re living in a time of unprecedented lack. What dominates our awareness is often what is broken. Problems. Crises. Shortages. Scandals. It can seem like all we do is react, perpetually focused on what’s wrong and what’s missing.
But this is not the whole truth.
The deeper tragedy isn't just the state of the world—it’s that our attention is being hijacked and trained to fixate on scarcity. This orientation breeds disempowerment, exhaustion, and a worldview rooted in fear. And it’s reinforced everywhere: in media, in marketing, and in the very structure of consumer culture, which thrives by convincing us that we are not enough and do not have enough.
But there is another way. And it starts by reconnecting to what we already have.
At its heart, connecting around abundance is about returning to center—to what we truly desire, what is most nourishing, what sustains us over time. This orientation isn't naïve or ignorant of the world’s pain; rather, it is a courageous act of choosing to root in resources rather than depletion. It's a quiet rebellion against a system that profits from our disconnection.
Abundance is not just material—it’s the wealth of our gifts, our insights, our relationships, our experiences. It’s the skills we’ve honed, the wisdom we carry, the connections we hold. And while recognizing this internally is a powerful practice, something profound happens when we acknowledge it together—in community.
We are relational beings. Social beings. Empathic by nature. And when we gather in circles—ancient technologies of belonging—and speak aloud what we are grateful for, what we carry, what we long to share, we create coherence. We weave a web of recognition that grounds us in the truth of enoughness.
This is why connecting around abundance matters in these times: because it builds a collective soil rich enough to support real change. Without this kind of relational nourishment, transformation can’t take root. Resilience, creativity, and vision don’t grow in barren ground—they flourish in ecosystems of mutual support and recognition.
Where we put our attention matters. It guides our perceptions. Directs our actions. It builds a cohesive, energetic north star and ground upon which to talk in that direction. Our collective narrative and the energy behind it carries an incredible force for creation; of our realities as individuals and as a collective. Our narratives shape our world.
To name what we have is to shift that narrative. To witness each other’s gifts is to create a new field of possibility. In this time of global upheaval, we don’t just need critique—we need capacity. And the act of coming together to reflect on our shared abundance (along with the honest depth of our emotions and truth in all we hope for) becomes a source of power, clarity, and direction.
So we gather. We speak. We witness. We build communities rooted not in lack, but in fullness. And from there, we act—not just to survive the world as it is, but to co-create the world as it could and will be when created together.
This writing in itself is an act of abundance - thank you. It fortifies to articulate what is happening.
